Across Australia, many farming communities are suffering through a drought for some that is 4 years old in Qld and Northern NSW, others in Western Victoria and Eastern South Australia have had their second year without crops losing hundreds of thousands of dollars in a matter of weeks.
As the El Nino takes hold in a predicted unprecedented way, farming communities are in need of assistance more than than at any time in the last 50 years. The cost of farming production, international subsidised suppliers and low tariffs mean imports are less than local production meaning farming is a very marginal business.
Australia, we need to do more for our farmers and their communities. Importantly we’re not just talking about farmers, we’re talking about communities and hundreds of thousands of acres where it is impossible to make a dollar. Why would you live in such an area so it begs the question, why do our farmers.
In reasonable years and the good years, these farming lands are great producers of the food stuffs we Australians enjoy.
Buy a Bale works closely with The Give Back Campaign, retailers across Australia and internationally who will give a dollar for drought affected farmers when you shop with them. To help Buy a Bale raise funds support these retailers who will support our farmers, most in need.
