Earlier this year we announced that we were teaming up with The Great Outback BBQ to help raise funds for our cause. The Great Outback BBQ is now in its 3rd year and encourages people from right across Australia to host their own BBQ and raise funds for Frontier Services and Buy a Bale.
To help raise awareness the Buy a Bale team held two barbecues in early September. The first was held outside of the channel 7 building in Martin Place Sydney. Ironically it was a very wet day but the team managed to sell a few hundred snags and let people know about buy a bale and what the current program of work is. The second babecue was held in King George Square, Brisbane, right outside of the Brisbane City Council chambers. It was a sweltering day and the team sold a lot of snags and even more drinks. A great day was had by all and with some media coverage by ABC Brisbane and 4BC (Brisbane) we hope to see more and more people hosting BBQ’s.
The picture above shows the team at work just after set up in Brisbane. Not long after this picture was taken the queue was 5-15 people deep and didn’t stop for about 4 hours.
