In late October 2015 Buy a Bale and the NSW government teamed up to deliver over 570 bales to the farmers in the North West of NSW. Covering properties from Collarenebri right through to Lightning Ridge and on to Goodooga, 47 properties were able to receive 12 large round bales to help get through the ongoing drought.
This area of NSW is now into its 4th year of drought and many properties are struggling to get by. All properties are now down to the core breeding herd or have destocked completely and with the forecast continuing to look dry these hay bales will be essential to keeping animals alive.
The NSW government helped with the transport costs of these hay runs and NSW Minister for Agriculture Niall Blair made the long trek out from Sydney to spend over 5 hours on site talking to the farmers and coming to grips with what practical solutions can be put in place in order to maximise the help available.
