In late May 2016 Buy a Bale teamed up with the Residents of Murphys Creek and Stanthorpe to deliver much needed help to farmers in the Miles Region of Queensland.
After the death of Mayor Steve Jones earlier in the year, Murphys Creek Resident were determined to honour his memory by raising money for one of his favourite charities Buy a Bale. A couple of months on and the small town had raised enough to purchase 2 semi trailer loads of hay.
Separately, Terry Byrnes from Stanthorpe QLD had also read about the plight of the farmers and decided enough was enough, he had to help. As a truck driver he offered his services and with the Donation of a truck from Granite Belt Fruit Freighters, the loan of a trailer from Brisbane and lots of fundraising for fuel by the towns schools (7 in total) he had raised enough to run hay west.
It was a match made in heaven, one town supplying hay, another town supplying a truck and fuel.
A great couple of days were had by all, the hay was well received and going to some very deserving but needy families.
Thank you to everyone involved. There are some great shots to be seen in the following gallery. or check out our instagram account as we upload them over the coming weeks.
